Networking Session on 'Smart Cities India' - May 2015
City of Melbourne held a networking session to introduce key representatives from India who are currently working with the Government of India to evolve the ‘Smart City’ concept in India. The Indian stakeholders consisted of representatives from the Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority(MMRDA), The Energy and Resources Institute(TERI), Engineers India Ltd., Infrastructure Leasing & Financing Services (IL&FS). Consul General Ms. Manika Jain gave a presentation highlighting Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘100 Smart Cities’ concept giving inputs on opportunities for foreign investment, how it is being managed and the latest developments on this issue. A number of local companies from clean-tech and solid waste management also attended the networking.
