In conclusion of his visit to Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Melbourne on 18th November 2014.  The programme for the  Melbourne leg  of the visit included  Fund Managers’ Meeting, meeting with the Governor of Victoria H.E. Mr. Alex Chernov, CEOs Meeting, address to the Business Community, and  Civic Reception hosted by Mr. Tony Abbott Prime Minister of Australia.   In the Fund Managers’ meeting, PM briefed the investors regarding the initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ for easing the investment in India.  PM also said that coming budget will be investment friendly.  He invited the investors to give suggestions for Indian Government to take policy decisions with a global perspective.  In the CEOs meeting, the session centered around cooperation in sectors such as energy, education, research, food and water security and speedy conclusion of Free Trade Agreement between India and Australia.  While addressing around 450  invited business community members  at the Government House,  among other initiatives taken by his government, PM pitched for recently launched ‘Make in India’ campaign for catalyzing growth in manufacturing sector in India.  In the Civic Reception hosted by PM Tony Abbott Australian PM, about 1000 invitees including Indian community members participated.    Besides PM Narendra Modi, PM Tony Abbott, Premier of Victoria Dr. Denis Napthine and Leader of the Opposition Mr. Daniel Andrews, dignitaries present in the event included Mr. Sunil Gavaskar, Mr. Kapil Dev , Mr. V.V.S. Laxman, Mr. Steve Waugh and Mr. Stuart Clark. PM Narendra Modi presented a memento signed by himself and the captains of two World Cup winning teams to PM Tony Abbott on the occasion.
