Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), Government of India has been organising this orientation programme to create awareness about India and the progress the country has made. So far twenty seven such programmes have been organised in partnership with different states. Following the success of the previous programmes and based on feedback received from the attendees, the next Know India Programmes are proposed to be organised for 40 participants to be selected from countries all over the world. As in the past, the KIP is expected to provide the participants exposure to various facets of the Indian way of life, culture, spirituality, adventure and sports, creativity and composite character of India and interaction with youth from different parts of the country.

The tentative schedule of 29th Know India Programme is as follows:

KIP is open only for youth of Indian origin (excluding non-resident Indians) in the age group of 18-26 years who have distinguished themselves in any field and have interest in India. All those selected participants would be required to purchase air ticket for their journey from Australia to India and back, as per the schedule prescribed by the Ministry. 90% (ninety per cent) of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest economy excursion fare) would be reimbursed to the participants on successful completion of the programme.

The programme generally involves visit to historical, cultural, industrial, academic, and tourist places and meetings with Hon’ble Governor, Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Minister and other eminent personalities. Exposure to village life and interactive sessions at premier university / institution / organisation within the State are also covered during KIP.

Interested candidates in Victoria and Tasmania may send their applications to the Consulate General of India, Melbourne at least two weeks prior to the last date mentioned in the table above.
