Requirement under Surrogacy visas

In alignment with existing surrogacy arrangement and to support Australian parents opting to surrogacy, the Consulate General of India, Melbourne receives applications for Medical visa from Australian passport holders (only) for commissioning surrogacy in India.

The applications received include surrogacy cases which are in the pipeline i.e. cases where surrogacy has already been commissioned and the intended couples need to travel to India to bring their child(ren) as well as fresh cases where surrogacy is yet to be commissioned.

Visas are issued for cases in the pipeline, if all necessary documents are

provided, in the best interests of the mother and the child.

For fresh cases, since the letter presently being issued by Australian High Commission in New Delhi for this purpose is not in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the Bureau of Immigration (BOI), Government of India, we are in touch with Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Australia as well as Australian High Commission in New Delhi to formulate the certificate as required by BOI.
