The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2014 was inaugurated in Melbourne by megastar Amitabh Bachchan on 01 May.   The 11-day festival from 01-11 May sponsored by Victorian Department of State Development, Businesses and Innovation, and Tourism Victoria went off well with full of energy and fanfare.   The Festival was organised by a Melbourne based company – Mind Blowing Films.    There were more than 40 Indian films screened in the Festival.   La Trobe University Melbourne launched “Shri Amitabh Bachchan Scholarship” during this occasion.  The scholarship was instituted for deserving PhD students who come and study media and entertainment courses in La Trobe University.   The first scholarship of A$200,000 was presented by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan to    Mr. Roshan Kumar, a person of Indian origin, for his study to identify the potential of using social media to communicate health messages.   

 Coffee Board, India participated in the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) 2014  held in Melbourne Showgrounds from 15-18 May 2014.  A three member delegation led by Shri J.S. Deepak , Additional Secretary (Plantations), Ministry of Commerce & Industry made India’s active presence in MICE 2014.
